6-1-07 | RB DeAngelo Williams ready to shine in new system?
According to Charlotte.com, Panthers' second-year runner DeAngelo Williams "was brimming with enthusiasm Thursday" about the team's new zone blocking scheme, the type of scheme that made him an All-American back in college.
** Williams has huge upside in 2007 if he can be had in the 4th round or later. Right now, some ADPs have him going in the 3rd, which could be a bit risky at this point in the off-season. That can certainly change as the off-season moves along though, if he nails down that starting gig.
5-31-07 | RB Larry Johnson: HC Edwards expects RB to catch 60 passes in 2007?
According to KansasCity.com, KC head coach Herm Edwards wants to get Johnson more involved in the passing game in 2007. "That's the next step in his development as a running back in this league: His ability to come out of the backfield running routes," Edwards said. "We need to get the ball to our backs a little more than we did last year." Edwards reportedly expects the WR to catch 60 passes this season.
** Johnson has always been (this entire off-season), and will remain, our #2 overall ranked player heading into 2007 and beyond. So many believe Steven Jackson is going to be that #2, but not us.
5-31-07 | RB Laurence Maroney not on field as NE starts passing camp
According to Beloblog.com, Patriots' passing camp started Thursday, but without second-year running back Laurence Maroney (shoulder surgery).
** Maroney should be fine when the preseason rolls around - if healthy, expect a breakout season out of the second-year rusher. Consider him a solid late first-round pick in 2007 redraft leagues.
5-31-07 | QB Michael Vick: Evidence found connecting Vick to dog-fighting operation?
According to WAVY.com, when Surry Commonwealth's Attorney Gerald Poindexter was asked, "At this moment in time, do we have any evidence that puts Vick at dog fighting?" Poindexter replied, "Yes."
** Word is that this case could go to a grand jury as early as July. This is a big development and Vick's fantasy value for 2007 is starting to take a turn for the worst.
